A few weeks ago, myself and Murad were lucky enough to get an invite to the NAB Graduate Expo. It's a new initiative by NAB and something quite innovative and different from what I've seen any other employers do so thought I would post about it. The expo was designed to give current students an inside look at NAB. It was held at The Academy, located at NAB Head Office in Docklands – their virtual and physical Learning and Development hub. The sessions ranged from NAB Executives who spoke of what area of the bank they worked in, to the HR team taking grads through the graduate program structure and application process.
What happened on the day
We heard from past and present graduates about their experience on the program and where they are now, which provided great insight. Throughout The Academy there were stands representing different areas of the business such as Employee Benefits, Diversity and the program Speciality Streams. The stream stands were staffed by members from the specific areas and gave the students an opportunities to have one-on-one conversations and ask any particular questions they may have. Finally after a jam packed morning, lunch was served where the students talked amongst themselves and had more informal conversations with the NAB representatives.
The real success of the expo will show once graduates that attended apply for the program. Overall, the students who attended learnt a lot about life at NAB and the Graduate Program as a whole, not to mention being well received by the NAB business areas that were involved. For NAB, this expo was in their own environment, gave potential graduates an insight into NAB, and it was longer than a general careers fair and best of all it gave them the opportunity to showcase the organisation. We're already looking forward to next year's expo. Thanks to Elissa, Lauren and Milly for inviting us down. More Photos from the Event...
