ACT Government

The ACT Public Service (ACTPS) is committed to building a culturally diverse workforce and an inclusive workplace. As part of this commitment we strongly encourage people from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background, or People with Disability, to apply. Some of the positions within the 2019 Graduate Program are designated to be filled with people from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background and/or People with Disability.

The ACTPS has an overarching inclusion strategy which aims to increase and retain the number of People with Disabilities across the service, promote disability awareness, and provide pastoral care.

The ACTPS has a dedicated employment inclusion team that works on the following initiatives:

Australian School Based Apprenticeships

Our school based apprenticeship program provides an opportunity to help young People with Disability students build a career in the ACT Public Service.

Disability Vocational Employment Program (VEP)

Our full-time Vocational Education Program helps adult People with Disability job seekers to develop into a role over 12 months. We provide participants with certificate level and/or on-the-job training and support, and offer a permanent position upon completion of the Program.

Direct Recruitment

The ACTPS continually seeks to directly employ People with Disabilities into positions within the ACTPS through:

  • Identified positions
  • Recruitment and employment agencies
  • Pre-employment programs
  • Employment expo’s
  • Online sources
