Allianz in the community
There is far more to Allianz Australia than just insurance. Allianz participates in sponsorship, community and environmental projects in Australia and around the world.
Allianz follows a long-term strategy in supporting international events including the Formula 1 and the Paralympics, as well as partnering with the world-renowned pianist Lang Lang to inspire the next generation of classical musicians. Allianz Australia has a proud history supporting our Paralympians. We are committed to promoting inclusion, diversity, and excellence, both in the workplace and in the world of competitive sports. Since 2011 Allianz Australia has been an Official Supporter and Sponsor of the Australian Paralympic Committee. The support for Australian paralympians builds on Allianz's global support for the International Paralympic Committee as well as National Paralympic Committees in 10 other countries.
Outreach (charity program)
Our Allianz Outreach program is a powerful yet simple way for our employees to make a real difference in our community by donating directly to charities who help those in need. The three charities we support in Australia were nominated by our employees, and are: the Cancer Council Australia, RSPCA and Starlight Children’s Foundation. We also support the Red Cross with blood donations and emergency relief appeals. Our employees are able to support our partner charities by regular workplace giving and fundraising events. We also offer one day of community service leave each year so employees can volunteer their time and ‘give back’ to the community.
Allianz is committed to improving its environmental footprint. In 2010 Allianz Australia reduced its emissions by more than 30% through using renewable energy. Allianz Group is a leading insurer and investor in renewable energy, and has invested in 60 wind farms and 7 solar parks, located in France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Austria, Finland and the United States. In November 2015 Allianz Group announced it will stop financing coal-based business models, no longer investing in companies that derive more than 30% of revenue from coal mining or generate over 30% of their energy from coal.
