Join us as a Graduate: Mechanical Engineer if you are ready to take the first step towards a successful career in the mining industry.
Finding and developing our future leaders is something we're passionate about
At Anglo American, we are committed to making lasting positive change for colleagues, host communities, consumers and our planet. Guided by our purpose and our values, we enable both high performance and purposeful action as we aim to “re-imagine mining to improve people’s lives”, delivering the metals and minerals that make modern life possible – from mobile phones to medicines.
As a Graduate: Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved in all aspects of the mechanical engineering function, which will include helping the development and implementation of procedures, management plans and systems to improve environmental performance and participating in the monitoring, analysis and reporting on programs for land, vegetation, cultural heritage, water and waste.
This is a permanent opportunity for graduates who want to have a smarter future within mining. Initially, you will be offered a two-year graduate program with Metallurgical Coal rotating to one or more of our sites located across Queensland (two twelve-month placements). You have the chance to make a difference in real projects and work across open cut and underground mining.
If you are ready to make the most of everything you’ve learned so far, ready to be challenged, ready to work together with industry leaders, be a part of a supportive environment and a vibrant Graduate community and ready to take the first step towards a successful career in the mining industry, Anglo American is ready for you.
Do you have what we’re looking for?
You need to:
- Have a degree or postgraduate degree (Honours or Masters) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Have completed your degree within the last 2 years or are due to graduate by January or June 2022.
- Have no more than two years of relevant work experience.
- Be a team player with strong leadership potential. Demonstrate drive, ambition and a passion for challenging work in our operations.
- Be available to work in remote areas of Central Queensland as part of the Graduate Program (relocation package provided).
Who we are
We aim to lead the industry by pursuing ever safer and more responsible ways of working, demonstrating integrity and showing care and respect for people and the planet. That means we are constantly seeking new opportunities to mine and process our products sustainably, using less water, less energy and more precise extraction technologies. As the custodians of coal and other precious natural resources – diamonds (through De Beers), copper, platinum and other precious metals, iron ore and nickel – our extraordinary teams work safely and collaboratively, with the utmost consideration for local communities, our customers and the world at large.
Successful candidates will be required to complete background screening which will include validation of qualifications and medical checks.
Inclusion and Diversity
We strive to create an inclusive environment for all employees. Women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are encouraged to apply for all vacant positions.
How we are committed to your safety
Nothing is more important to us than ensuring you return home safely after a day’s work. To make that happen, we have the most rigorous safety standards in the industry. Not only that, we’re also continually investing in new technologies – from drones to data analytics – that are helping to make mining safer.
