The APA Graduate Program

APA Group

The APA Graduate Program provides you with a unique opportunity to gain valuable industry experience, learn about our business and gain insights into what a career at APA looks like. Positions are open to those who have recently graduated, or will graduate prior to commencement. All roles are permanent positions.

About the Graduate Program

The APA Graduate Program runs for two years. Over the two-year program you will complete a minimum of three rotations across different areas, allowing you to work on a range of projects across our business. You may have the opportunity to transition out of the program into the business earlier after completion of your three rotations. On each rotation you will complete day-to-day tasks that expose you to challenges and learning opportunities.


  • Three core rotations, each for seven months in length.
  • One elective rotation, which is three months in length.

Throughout the rotations you will have people supporting you:

  • Line manager.
  • Buddy.
  • Mentor.

Your line manager and buddy will change with each rotation, however, your mentor stays the same throughout the program.

Tasks and units

For each rotation you will have a list of technical units and associated tasks to complete related to that business area. These units have been designed to help you develop and understand specific technical skills, knowledge, capability and processes. *We will support you work towards chartership/ professional qualifications. *if applicable


The APA Graduate Mentor Program has been designed to foster your development, and facilitate knowledge sharing with a more senior employee. You will gain experience, advice and knowledge from a professional who lives and breathes our business every day; their experience and wisdom is invaluable to your professional development and learning.

Performance and Development

We want you to develop your career whilst working at APA, as we know growth and progression are high on your list of employment priorities. During your two years, there will be opportunities for performance and development reviews.

At the beginning of each rotation your line manager will meet with you and your mentor to discuss expectations and set goals for the rotation period. At the end of the rotation your line manager will meet with you and your mentor to review your performance and experience against the goals for the rotation period. Throughout your rotation your manager will also provide feedback to you and your mentor on how you are tracking.

Performance Reviews 

Your Manager will conduct regular reviews. This means that whilst on the Graduate Program, you may be eligible for pay increases depending on your personal performance. The review process ensures you are tracking against agreed and desirable goals, training and behaviours and takes into account your overall performance.

Professional Development opportunities

Across the two year program, you will receive structured development opportunities. These may be internal or external programs. Some of these in-house programs will be the acquisition of soft skills and personal development from the APA suite of programs for all employees. Others may be external workshops or sessions designed for your area of expertise. Your learning doesn’t finish once you leave university, it continues throughout your career, and APA encourages you to seek out learning and development opportunities.
