Working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is key to us achieving diversity. We have acknowledged the barriers of employment for Australia’s First Nations peoples and are now determined to promote inclusion and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
In collaboration with Reconciliation Australia, we have begun developing a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). The RAP will help the Audit Office by enabling the successful inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The Audit Office has also partnered with Career Trackers to implement an indigenous based internship that is tailored to university students. This program allows our interns to grow and develop both professionally and personally during their time with us and one of our goals is that our interns join us long term at the end of their university degree.
We’re proud to support local Aboriginal catering businesses by using their services for our events and training days.
We believe that education also plays an important role in creating an inclusive environment. It’s why every staff member attends cultural awareness workshops to expand understanding of Australia’s First Nations peoples.
