Assistant Accountant

The HM Consolidated (HMC) Group has operations in some of the most iconic regions of Australia and is looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our vibrant team. The Group has offices in Kununurra, Broome, Karratha and Adelaide and a total staff of approximately 200 employees.   As part of our Finance team, and reporting to the Group Accountant, the Assistant Accountant will ideally be located in Broome or Kununurra.

The Assistant Accountant will assist with the preparation of entity and group budgets, month and year end procedures including Business Activity Statements, financial reporting, payroll, and management of the fixed asset register.

In consultation with the Group Accountant, and as part of the Finance Team, you will also assist in the general finance functions including accounts receivable and payable, general accounting, financial administration, and monthly benchmarking.

Skills / Qualifications Required

  • Accounting Qualification (CPA, CA preferred)
  • At least 2 years post degree professional or commercial experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in Xero or equivalent, and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise
  • An eye for detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work in and positively contribute to a team environment
  • The ability to work independently
