Graduate Finance Assistant

Position Summary

As a Finance Assistant, you will report directly to the Financial Accountant.  It is the responsibility of this position to provide professional & operational support to the Finance Department on a day to day basis and the wider business as and when required.

The Finance Assistant will support the business to meet per period client collections targets, minimise bad debts, maximise group cash flow as well as effectively manage administration tasks as detailed within.  

The Finance Assistant will support the business through auditing and reporting on existing processes with the ongoing view to improving efficiency and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist to plan, organise and prioritise client ledgers each period to maximise accounts receivable
  • Escalate overdue accounts to the Financial Accountant  for Bad Debt or solicitor referral
  • Collect revenue within the trading terms and abiding by the Capital Transport Group collection policies and procedures
  • Prepare and distribute client invoices no later than the day after end of period close off
  • Accurately enter financial transactions into the TMS reconciling against the bank statements 
  • Prepare client account reconciliations
  • Maintain client details in the TMS as required
  • Assist senior management with the set up and implementation of various projects
  • Provide support to Financial Accountant in all facets of cost control across the business
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports for the National Management Team
  • Perform any reasonable tasks or requests by your Manager
  • Compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) responsibilities as outlined
  • Attend team meeting’s as required 
  • Attend 1:1 meetings with your Manager as required

GENERAL SKILLS

  • Language:  High
  • Mathematical: Moderate
  • Reasoning:  Moderate

OTHER 

  • Desirable - undergoing tertiary qualifications in business/commerce or related discipline
  • In your penultimate year of study and willing to defer your studies for 2022 to undertake the full-time placement OR
  • Recently graduated in business/commerce or related discipline
  • Commitments to work within defined business processes
  • Willingness to learn and can do attitude
