We now have an opportunity in Compliance and Regulation where you will work on exciting projects across the region and contribute to our community growth. The position will assist the Manager Compliance and Regulation and Director Community and Place by participating in a business transformation model to achieve cultural change and succeed in accomplishing agreed service delivery outcomes. About the Role: The position of Environmental Health Officer OSSM actively undertakes business functions associated with: • Programmed audits of onsite sewage management systems throughout the Local Government Area (LGA). • Undertake investigations and compliance actions relating to environmental health matters with a particular focus on onsite sewer management in the LGA. • Assessment and determination of an application under the Local Government Act 1993 and provision of internal referral advice on onsite sewer management matters. About you: • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Health or equivalent. • Knowledge of and a strong capacity to interpret and apply relevant legislation, regulations and policy (including Food Act, Public Health Act, Local Government Act, and Protection of the Environment Operations Act). • A knowledge of or experience in some or all of the following fields; food safety principles and objectives (including food shop/skin pen inspections), matters relating to public health, contaminated land management, State of Environment Reporting, environmental impact assessment, water sampling and results in interpretation and pollution control. • Strong and effective communication skills both written and verbal including an ability to negotiate positive outcomes. • Demonstrated experience in report writing and a demonstrated ability to undertake independent research. • Excellent people skills, an ability to manage difficult people and a desire to provide quality service to the community • Demonstrable computer literacy of MS Office products and experience in database maintenance. • Current Class C Drivers Licence How to Apply: Please upload your current resume and a cover letter addressing your skills, experience, and how you meet the role requirements the role.   Please forward your resume, specifically addressing the essential criteria by 18 November 2022     For further information about the role, please contact Simon Grierson on (02) 4868 0888.
