Your Position:
The Environmental Health Officer will carry out health and environmental inspections performing a regulatory role whilst taking a proactive approach to public health and environmental improvements.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:-
- Conducting routine assessments of all regulated premises within the LGA including Retail Food Premises, Cooling Towers, Skin Penetration Premises, Boarding Houses, Hair and Beauty Salons, Underground Petroleum Storage Systems for Service Stations and Restricted Premises
- Investigating and enforcing public health and environmental breaches relating to relevant legislation
- Providing technical advice in relation to proposed development applications
- Working closely with other teams at Council including the Compliance Investigation Officers
To be successful in this role you will have:-
- Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health); or equivalent Tertiary Qualification
- An understanding and working knowledge of the relevant Legislation and Acts applicable to the regulatory function of this role
- Proven written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Well-developed time management and organisational skills
- Class C NSW Drivers licence
- Sound knowledge of and capacity to implement EEO, WH&S, Ethical Work Practices and Cultural Diversity Principles
Key Requirements
- COVID 19 vaccination for all employees (2 Vaccines)
- Willingness to complete a National Police History Check
- Willingness to complete a pre-employment health assessment (Where applicable)
- Current Driver's Licence
- Local Government working experience an advantage
