About the role and us
Due to a range of internal development opportunities, Maitland City Council have a temporary, full-time opportunity to join the Building & Development team as a Health & Building Surveyor. Maitland LGA is the fastest growing local government area in NSW, which means our work is fast paced, varied and engaging. The role is responsible for the delivery of building certification and approval services in accordance with relevant legislation, the Maitland Local Environment Plan, Council’s Codes, Policies and Building Code of Australia.
The Maitland City Council area has a variety of development, ranging from new urban release areas to rural landscapes and areas of high heritage value. The building section has recently expanded to cater for the continued growth within the area and is currently implementing a fire safety program for commercial buildings. This means, there is great opportunity available to gain experience across a wide range of development types and have exposure to a broader scope of development than the typical local government area.
To be successful in this role you will possess degree qualifications in or an equivalent combination of contemporary industry experience and/or education/training recognised by the Building Professionals Board NSW. You will have contemporary industry knowledge and demonstrated experience in Health & Building Surveying and interpretation of applicable legislation, policies and codes. You will also have excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills in the resolution of complex problems and issues and ensure an exceptional customer experience for all Council stakeholders.
This is a 12-month temporary full-time role, working 35 hours per week, with a base salary ranging from $95,075 up to $105,553 per year based on demonstrated competencies + private leaseback vehicle + 10.5% super.
Council also offers a range of other benefits for its employees including:
- Ongoing training and development
- Access to our Healthy Employee Program (HEP): including reduced gym memberships and subsidies for programs that improve health and wellbeing
- Long Service Leave after five years
- Access to our flexible work framework
