Division: Corporate & Community Team: People & Culture Employment Status: Fixed Term Contract (up to 6 months) Employment Arrangement: Full time, 35 hours per week with access to a our Flex-Time System Salary Range: $83,949.18 to $96,598.87 p.a (depending on skill and relevant experience) plus 10.5% superannuation About Strathfield Council Strathfield Council is centrally located in Sydney’s inner-west, half way between the Parramatta and Sydney CBD with accessible public transport options and parking available. About the Opportunity Strathfield Council is seeking a People & Culture Business Partner to provide strategic leadership, innovation, and sound advice to Council. Developing and supporting managers in their roles as leaders. Providing clear and accessible People and Culture Information as well as timely accurate and constructive advice to staff and council. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Fostering effective working relationships with our business unit managers and provide best practice human resource management and consultancy services to meet business and operational objectives.
  • Applying industrial relations skills to effectively coach managers to manage performance and using expertise to facilitate investigations and grievance processes.
  • Facilitating best practice in relation to People and Culture
  • Assist with Workers Comp and RTW coordination duties as required
  • Interpreting employment legislation and industrial awards
  • Promoting and encouraging relevant employment programs
  • Assisting with implementation of P & C projects such as:
    • Recruitment & Selection
    • Performance Management
    • Employee Relations
    • Industrial Relations
    • People and Culture Reporting
    • Staff Events i. e (i.e., service awards)
About you The successful candidate will have the following:
  • Tertiary qualifications in either Human Resources or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Have a Class ‘C’ Drivers Licence
  • You will have knowledge of Local Government (State) Award 2020
  • Experience working in Local Government (desirable)
  • Experience using CM10/ Authority application (desirable)
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, which will both challenge and fine-tune your skills as an enthusiastic People & Culture Business Partner.
  • Be a strong communicator with the ability to be team focused as well as feel a sense of reward and ownership within your role.
