Byron Shire Council is currently seeking an enthusiastic Resource Recovery Environmental Programs Officer.  The position plays a key role in the environmental management and compliance associated with Council’s Resource Recovery operations, projects and strategic programs.

Some specific tasks include:

  • Maintaining compliance with all statutory requirements around waste infrastructure and operations, including EPA licences, EPA regulation, Myocum Landfill Environmental Management Plan and DA consents.
  • Developing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining Environment and Safety integrated management systems in alignment with relevant standards that provide for continual improvement of performance for all resource recovery operations.
  • Delivering projects and programs associated with resource recovery operations and services, including those relating but not limited to:
    • Environmental impact assessment;
    • Environmental risk assessment;
    • Environmental auditing;
    • Environmental incident and emergency response; and
    • Environmental training and education
  • Identify, prepare and manage grant applications in accordance with Council Strategies and Plans

  • Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award with an appointment at a salary in the range of $1,449.90 to $1,679.93 per 35 hour week (dependent upon skills and experience)

 Location:

This position is based at Myocum & Mullumbimby, however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
