Our Development Assessment and Compliance team is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Town Planner to assist with the development application process managed by the Unit.
This is a permanent full-time role, working a 9 day fortnight, and offering flexibility for a great work/life balance.
About the role:
- Processes development applications and related matters in accordance with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.
- Prepares LEP amendments, policies, Development Control Plans in a timely manner.
- Responds to written and verbal enquiries.
- Manages the Development Assessment process including recommending the application for approval/refusal and associated follow up processes.
- Provides excellent customer service to our stakeholders, providing advice on environmental planning instruments and policy matters.

We are seeking:
- Degree or Post-Graduate Town Planning qualification.
- Demonstrated high-level competence and experience in the assessment of development applications whilst working within a government framework.
- Demonstrated understanding of the assessment of development applications.
- Well developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise and handle conflicting deadlines.
- Located on the picturesque far North Coast of NSW, bordering the Gold Coast.

This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
