The Team 

As part of our award winning Assets and Infrastructure directorate, the Strategic Placemaking team work to ensure the City's assets are strategically managed across the specific categories of roads, footpaths, open space, storm water, drainage, buildings and other structures. The team is filled with talented and passionate individuals who are committed to working together and with the business to achieve it’s goals and objectives. The Role 

This is a permanent, full time role which is instrumental in providing a high standard of Traffic Engineering Services. This includes the installation of new traffic facilities and continued maintenance of facilities. You will take ownership of continuous improvement strategies and have a pivotal role in achieving an efficient and safe environment for vehicles, pedestrians and other road users. 

About You 

We’re looking for someone with demonstrated experience in traffic and transport, but you’ll also bring a customer focused approach and can-do attitude to engage and influence key stakeholders to achieve the best outcome for Council and the community. 

Qualifications, Certificates & Licences

  • Tertiary Qualification in Civil or Environmental Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualifications in a related discipline, or in the process of obtaining such qualifications Registered Professional Engineer or should be eligible for registration as Professional Engineer in accordance with the NSW registration laws, where applicable.
  • RMS certification for the preparation and implementation of traffic control/ management plans
  • Class C Drivers Licence
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)


  • Demonstrated understanding of traffic and transport issues and principals
  • A high level of computer literacy with sound working knowledge of traffic engineering modelling software, GIS (mapping) software, Council corporate software and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to present accurate, clear concise and timely reports on traffic matters
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team
  • Understanding of and commitment to WHS practices and EEO principles
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  •  Must be fully vaccinated (minimum 2 doses) with an approved COVID-19 vaccine and provide Council with evidence of vaccination, or an accepted certified medical contraindication. Council reserves the right to confirm the validity of contraindications in accordance with NSW Health guidelines, and to direct a Worker to undertake an independent medical examination in relation to the issuance of a medical contraindication certificate.
