"Directions" our 12-month paid Industry Placement Program offers final year students studying a Bachelors qualification a paid opportunity to develop professionally as well as personally. You will build critical business skills and be ableto apply what you are learning on a day to day basis.
This program is designed to allow you to work and study. We will offer flexible work conditions (eg, shifts that suit your Uni demands) to ensure you get on-job learning without compromising the completion of your degree! We have opportunities across Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth–starting in Oct/Nov 2019. This program would suit people with a strong desire to a pursue a career in the Hospitality industry. The applicant would be currently in the latter stages of completing a Bachelors in Hospitality, Tourism, Management, Business or equivalent.
Our program is broken into two phases:
You learn about our business, our values, our people and our communities.
b. Work Placement
You will work across the business, in a variety of roles, to build both your capability and understanding a hospitality operation, which is essential for a future leadership role in the business.
Expect to get your hands dirty as you get exposure to a range of roles in our business, and get paid for it.
Mentoring, peer support and coaching by Compass leaders will be ongoing during this period and over the entire program
Successful completion and feedback on progress will mean progression to Phase 2
a. Building Management Capability
The focus is on building the on-the-job supervisory, people and business management skills you will need to lead teams in the future.
b. Transition to Management will include one-on-one time with our business leaders such as: Commercial Managers, Operations Managers, HR Managers and Safety Managers.
Over this time you will also complete our Stage 1 Managers Training Program. This covers areas such as:
- Client & Customer Relationships
- Financial Management
- Safety Management
- Operational Excellence
- Business Systems
- People Management
Upon completion successful cadets will be offered a permanent role at one of our many sites.
