The Finance Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is the department’s fourth RAP and strives to build on the foundation established through previous RAPs. The Finance RAP is a detailed document outlining the department’s overall objectives. Reconciliation is an ongoing endeavour, and all Finance employees have an important role to play in delivering the actions in this plan.

Finance has an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Staff Network (ATSISN), an informal peer network run by employees who are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. It aims to welcome, orient and support new and existing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff. ATSISN is also an informal resource for all Finance staff to seek information on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues.

ATSISN seeks to provide an inclusive, culturally supportive environment in which members can share information, experiences and advice, offer support and promote cultural awareness through activities and events for significant dates, including National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week. It also seeks to celebrate the importance of identity, community and shared knowledge in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, values and life. By sharing experiences with a network of friends and colleagues, ATSISN members can feel more comfortable and secure in the APS environment and build their networks, which can help to assist with feelings of isolation when living away from home and family.

ATSISN also works with other diversity networks to foster collaboration and inclusion and strengthen relationships.
