Our work involves the following:

We identify and investigate issues and develop policy to provide the best possible solutions to challenges across health, ageing and aged care, and sport.

We regulate the health and aged care system to protect your health and safety.

Key Programs and Initiatives
National Immunisation Program which aims to increase immunisation coverage to reduce the number of diseases that are preventable by vaccination in Australia.
Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) is supporting our inspiring researchers to discover the next penicillin, pacemaker, cervical cancer vaccine, or cochlear ear.
Ageing and Aged Care provides information, tools and resources to support the aged care sector through well-targeted, and best regulation that promotes equity of access, quality care and the protection of vulnerable consumers.
Indigenous Health works closely with other Government Department to improve the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through Close the Gap initiatives and other programs.
My Health Record is a recently introduced initiative which allows you to control your health information securely in one place.
Office of Sport coordinates the Australian Government’s involvement in major sporting events hosted by Australia.
