Professional Pathway

Department of Industry, Innovation and Science

Along with a Generalist Stream, in 2020 we are offering a Professional Services Stream for people with qualifications in ICT, Finance, Law, Human Resources and Communications/Marketing.

Our Generalist and Professional Services Stream Graduates complete very similar programs.  They work alongside each other on the Major Project during Year One of the program, and attend monthly ‘GradChats’ together.

The differences for Professional Services Graduates are:

  • Professional Services Graduates will undertake four work placements over the two year program. Three of these work placements will be in the area of their professional expertise (for example, a Legal Graduate will complete three rotations in our corporate legal team, while an ICT graduate would complete three rotations in IT related teams).  The fourth placement is outside of the area of professional expertise to provide a well-rounded knowledge of the department, an understanding of the needs of business areas and how this integrates with the graduates’ area of professional expertise.
  • Professional Services Graduates will undertake more targeted study related to the area of professional expertise in Year Two of the program.  For example, a Legal Graduate may undertake a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
  • Professional Services Graduates may also undertake additional training that relates to their field of professional expertise.
