Graduate - Analyst, Unlisted Infrastructure

FSI Infrastructure is an unlisted infrastructure investment business with specialist capability in infrastructure funds management, asset management and transactions management. 

An opportunity has become available for a Graduate, within FSI Infrastructure (Australia).

The strategy of FSI Infrastructure is to provide investors with infrastructure offerings that deliver above benchmark performance and superior service levels by taking lead investor positions in acquiring and managing infrastructure investments.  Further, the strategy is to grow the business globally in a manner consistent with current and new domestic and international investors’ aspirations and to invest globally, securing quality, core infrastructure investments.

The team currently manages a A$10bn portfolio of unlisted equity investments in a range of infrastructure assets including utilities, transport, storage terminals, car parks, and renewable generation. The global portfolio includes equity interests in over 20 different infrastructure assets across Australasia, and Europe.

FSI Infrastructure has a significant team presence in Australia and Europe, having commenced investing in infrastructure in Australia in 1994 and having established a permanent presence in Europe in 2005.  FSI Infrastructure has an international client base and investment portfolio with plans for continued rapid international client and investment growth; most recently with a focus on the US market.

The key purpose of this position is to support the origination, asset management and investment management functions of the team. 

Responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to potential investment / divestment activities 
    • Manage and/or build the bid/divestment financial model; 
    • Contribute to capital management and structuring decisions; 
    • Contribute to due diligence; 
    • Contribute to investment papers and governance approvals; 
  • Support the asset management function of the team 
    • Complete asset and industry specific analysis; 
    • Develop, review and maintain sophisticated financial models to ensure value added decision making; 
    • Preparation, analysis and review of asset valuations; 
  • Support the investment management function of the team; 
    • Contribute to fundraising activities; 
  • Contribute and promote thought leadership and best practice analysis; 
    • Contribute to conference presentations and areas of research; 
    • Cross fertilisation of knowledge and new analytical techniques across the team. 

Person specification: 

  • Strong numerical and financial skills – particularly financial modelling and valuations; 
  • Graduate and/ or analyst with up to two years’ of experience and/or internships in the finance industry – in a corporate finance, buy side private equity / infrastructure or investment bank will be highly regarded; 
  • Computer literate with a high level of proficiency in MS Excel, Powerpoint and Word; 
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills; 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and tight deadlines; 
  • Skilled in managing stakeholder and client relationships.
