Role overview
Exciting opportunity for CompSci/IT/Engineering graduates to commence career in a quantitative funds management team to assist in developing software solutions. Your work will be split between database/systems management and quantitative software development. You will gain wide-ranging technical experience across different technologies and acquire in-depth knowledge of quantitative finance and financial data. You will be mentored and guided by experienced members of the team to help you grow as a quantitative developer.
Key responsibilities
- Maintaining and enhancing code libraries/systems used for research and portfolio construction (R and Python)
- Developing and supporting front-office tools used for trading, decision-support, and client reporting systems (R, Python, SQL and some VBA)
- Support and maintenance of our daily operational processes and databases
- Workflow integration and automation of processes
- Work with a multitude of third-party financial data and financial systems
- Participate in solution planning/design, development, testing, code review, and deployment
- Documentation of our systems and processes to facilitate knowledge transfer and future maintenance
- Maintaining data integrity of both proprietary and third-party data
Skills and experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or similar technical field
- Broad knowledge of software engineering principles, algorithms and data structures
- Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Previous work experience/internship in software development and/or in the finance industry would be an advantage
- Experience coding in one or more of R, Python, and SQL, and exposure to relational databases and version control tools (Git) highly regarded
- Understanding of equity markets and securities preferable
Desirable characteristics
- Strong willingness in furthering your knowledge and skills in technologies and quantitative finance with self-learning
- An interest in finance and equity markets, and a desire to understand and contribute to our investment processes
The ideal candidate will have a passion for producing quality software and providing technological solutions but will also understand the practical reality of working in a small team with changing priorities and tight deadlines. An interest in finance and systematic investment strategies will be very highly regarded. A collaborative attitude and willingness to become part of the team is essential.
