The Agricultural graduate program offers a unique opportunity to work in the following roles in Queensland or South Australia:

  • Graduate breeder farm manager
  • Graduate hatchery manager
  • Graduate quality supervisor
  • Graduate nutritionist

Graduate Farm Manager

This rotation will give you the knowledge and experience to manage all aspects of the breeder and boiler Farms. The farming manager will provide ongoing mentorship and support to help you lead a farm team to maximise the biological performance of the stock and develop the capability to plan and manage a breeding and broiling cycle. You will learn to communicate with key stakeholders at a variety of levels.

Graduate Hatchery Manager

The purpose of this rotation is for you to develop the knowledge and skills to manage all aspects of the hatchery. You will learn the tasks required to maximise hatchability whilst maintaining effective cost control and to generate a setting plan. An emphasis will be placed on all graduates developing their managerial experience and problem-solving skills.

Graduate Quality Supervisor

During this rotation, you will build an understanding of the role of veterinary technical services in producing safe, high quality poultry products that meet and exceed consumer expectations. On top of gaining experience using the various tools required to develop and implement effective quality management systems in live production, you will learn about the importance of animal welfare programs and disease and pathogen prevention programs.

Graduate Nutritionist

Time spent in the nutrition and feed mills rotation will help graduates understand the significance of all commercial components in producing safe, high quality poultry feed that meets and exceeds expectation. Working closely with a feed mill manager, a senior nutritionist, and a senior chemist you will learn about the importance of nutrition formulation programs, procurement strategies, feed milling and the development of quality management systems for feed production.

Successful Agricultural graduates should:

  • Be able to start full time in February 2017
  • Expect that consideration will be given to candidates who specialise in Animal Science, Rural Science or Horticulture
  • Be based in either Queensland or South Australia
  • Be willing to travel: One rotation will require you to be based in Sydney for 6 months and each rotation will result in you travelling to a different site within your base state*
  • Be passionate about animal welfare and enjoy working in a rural environment

*Allowance: You will be given a relocation allowance when we require you to move for your Sydney rotation. You will be able to claim for mileage when you travel outside of your contracted base location to ensure you are not out of pocket.

Sales and Marketing

This rotation will provide you with a thorough understanding of the sales and the marketing process and how this contributes to overall business success. It will also give you a thorough understanding of the retail platform and customers. You will develop a strong knowledge of the Ingham’s product range in order to understand how the business works with retailers and vice-versa. This includes how products sell in market, financials and forecasting as well as cross-functionality with key stakeholders to assist in driving sales. The rotation will also involve a project which will involve you collaborating across departments to deliver an engaging marketing plan in-line with Ingham’s business strategy.

Commercial Finance

The commercial finance rotation will develop your ability to analyse raw financial and operational data and provide the business with key insights with the potential to influence Ingham’s strategic direction.  You will also enhance your presentation skills and learn to communicate complex concepts in a succinct manner catering to a diverse audience.

Operations

The purpose of this rotation is for you to develop the knowledge and skills of a supervisor in a processing plant. Learning the tasks required to reach Ingham’s quality and safety standards whilst maintaining labour efficiency will be a key aspect of this rotation. You will also develop strong people and communication skills as the role will involve exposure to the day-to-day management of a diverse workforce in a processing and production environment.

Distribution

This rotation will provide you with an understanding of Ingham’s distribution department which plays a key role in ensuring a safe and high quality poultry product is delivered and exceeds consumer expectations. Working closely with a range of supervisors across all supply chain functions, you will be exposed to a fast-paced distribution environment where you will learn the impacts of speed, efficiency, quality and adherence to safety standards on the broader business.

Successful Business graduates should:

  • Be able to start full time in February 2017
  • Expect that consideration will be given to those candidates who specialise in Business, Accounting, Commerce, Economics or Law
  • Be based in either New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia or Victoria.
  • Willing to travel: Two rotations will require you to be based in Sydney for 6 months and each rotation will result in you travelling to a different site within your base state*
  • Be highly analytical, enjoy problem solving and be detail orientated  
  • Demonstrate leadership potential with the ability to communicate effectively, build strong relationships and influence others
  • Be able to multitask, monitor performance, meet deadlines while holding self and others accountable
  • Be committed to personal growth and ongoing learning and development.

Engineering

Are you a mechanical or electrical engineering graduate looking for an opportunity in Queensland, South Australia or Victoria?

Kick start your engineering career by enhancing your capability with on the job training in the following areas:

  • Engineering fundamentals
  • Design
  • Maintenance
  • Capital projects

Engineering Fundamentals

In this rotation, you will learn about the importance of engineering for the site and how these departments play a vital role in contributing to Ingham’s overall business productivity. You will work closely with the Plant Engineer who will provide close supervision and guidance to ensure rotation learning objectives are met. A focus will be placed on developing your leadership skills and technical capabilities to help drive effective engineering management.

Design

During this rotation, you will build your knowledge and skills in the area of design engineering to help achieve Ingham’s business objectives. Internal training will provide you with an understanding of basic general safety and food safety design principles. At the end of the rotation you will be challenged to develop design concepts for small to medium size complexity projects with the opportunity to execute these concepts in future graduate rotations.

Maintenance

Time spent in this rotation will help you learn how the engineering and maintenance departments for the Ingham’s plants are imperative to the company’s overall business success. The rotation will focus on developing your leadership skills and technical capabilities so you can help support the operations, design and maintenance of the plant, plus the engineering and utility systems which help achieve safe and cost effective production operations.

Capital Projects

This rotation will provide you with an opportunity to gain a deep knowledge and understanding of capital funding and cash flow management to build a capital project. Upon completion of this rotation, you will have developed the skills to present a strong and effective business case which incorporates a justification of capital funding. Through internal training and on-the-job experience, you will also develop an understanding of the importance of asset lifecycle management, project planning and project lifestyles.

Successful Engineering graduates should:

  • Be able to start full time in February 2017
  • Specialise in either Mechanical or Electrical related areas
  • Be based in either Queensland, South Australia, Victoria or New Zealand
  • Be willing to travel: One rotation will require you to be based in Sydney for 6 months and each rotation will result in you travelling to a different site within your base state*
  • Aspire to work in a fast paced team environment in a growing organisation
  • Be able to communicate effectively, build strong relationships and influence others
  • Be highly analytical, enjoy problem solving and be detail orientated
  • Be committed to personal growth and ongoing learning and development.
