About the Opportunity: Graduate Water Engineer

Our Water and Environment group provides specialist consulting services across a diverse range of water engineering, water resources, applications and markets.

We have an opportunity in our Rural Water Section in Tatura for a Graduate Engineer. You will work on key water infrastructure projects within irrigation, water and wastewater, including planning, design, and construction supervision.

About the Location

Jacobs’ Rural Water Section is located in Tatura, Victoria which is a thriving regional centre close to Shepparton and Bendigo and within 2 hours’ drive to Melbourne. We specialise in irrigation infrastructure and work with our clients in Victoria, NSW and Queensland. We are part of a larger Global Irrigation Services Group and we work closely with and have regular technical exchange with our colleagues around the globe.

We also provide a range of water and wastewater planning, engineering, asset management and other services in our region and in support of urban water clients served jointly by our Tatura Melbourne teams.

Tatura is an energetic regional town of around 4500 people with historical significance in the irrigation industry, often known as the Water Wheel Country. It is a major employer within the Goulburn Valley region, being home to dairy industry organisations such as Tatura Milk Industries, Unilever and Snow Brand, and the headquarters for irrigation water authority, Goulburn Murray Water. Tatura has two primary schools, a busy main street with local food stores, bakeries, cafes, restaurants, banks, pubs, hair dressers, and other amenities. It has many sporting facilities and clubs located within the town, including Australian Rules Football, Soccer, Cricket, Tennis, Lawn Bowls and an 18-hole golf course. There are also local secondary schools, La Trobe University and a major General Hospital in Shepparton, 20 minutes’ drive away.

About you

The successful candidate will:

  • Have Graduated by the end of 2019 (with a degree in Civil, Environmental, Structural or Mechanical Engineering with an interest in water)
  • Be technically inquisitive
  • Possess strong leadership skills
  • Have the ability to work independently and in a team
  • Communicate exceptionally well
  • Ask questions and challenge the norm
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian permanent resident
