The Child & Family Services Clinician participates in a multi-disciplinary service environment providing positive behaviour support for children & young people in out of home care who are currently supported by Lifestyle Solutions who exhibit severely challenging behaviour, in order to assist them to develop positive behaviours and skills for community living. The Clinician works with stakeholders, carers, families, and advocates ensuring that the expert clinical advice and services they provide are integrated into a broader whole of life planning and support. 

  • Design, deliver and evaluate the implementation of multi-element behavioural interventions for the people we support in accordance with current best practice and in line with client's own goals.
  • Develop, implement, and review behaviour support strategies for carers, staff and families relevant to the behaviours of concern.
  • Co-ordinate and maintain an active clinical case load.
  • Participate in support planning processes for clients to deliver coordinated, effective service provision that meets the goals of the client.
  • Maintain client data management records.
  • Provide consultation to Lifestyle Solutions staff and other agencies in accordance with priorities.
  • Contribute to the continuing education and professional development of Lifestyle Solutions staff.
  • Initiate or contribute to the design and evaluation of services.
  • Design, implement and participate in research or other projects as required.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of Lifestyle Solutions various Program areas as directed by the Clinical Specialist.
  • Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of programs in place for the people we support.
  • Contribute to the development of Individual Service Plans that ensure meaningful outcomes for the people we support.
  • Provide clinical services that are based on quality assessment and practice standards to ensure good outcomes are achieved for the people we support.

Essential Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or other relevant field
  • Current registration in relevant Registration Body
  • Knowledge of the issues, trends and philosophies underpinning the provision of services to childrenand young people within a residential Out of Home Care setting who have complex and/orchallenging behaviours Demonstrated knowledge in the development and implementation of behavioural intervention strategies, risk management strategies and skills development plans.
  • Knowledge and experience in the provision of assessment, consultation and therapeutic interventions to children and young people within Out of Home Care
  • Sound knowledge of Child Development, Attachment and Trauma theories and ability to assist and train others to understand the implications of these for the children and young people we support
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for consulting and collaborating both within and external to the agency including health professionals, other agencies and departments.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as a member of a clinical team. Demonstrated sound level of time management and planning skills Sound level of written and oral communication skills including sound level of computer literacy and competency in provision of documentation requirements.
  • Ability to travel interstate as required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Current First Aid Certificate
