Sam Pickering, Senior Product Manager, L’Oréal Paris Men Expert.
“Since joining the business in late 2008, I’ve worked across 2 brands, 2 functions, 6 different roles and I’m about to embark on my most exciting challenge yet with a change of division.
I began my journey as an intern, a pre-requisite for my undergraduate degree which was a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) at RMIT University. I was instantly blown away by the company in so many ways; from the amount of brands that fall under its umbrella, the amazing opportunities that are on offer, the amount of responsibility and confidence to deliver I was given and how fast paced, dynamic and fun the various teams are to work with.
Having worked across so many different roles in such a short span of time has not only constantly challenged me to learn and develop myself both personally and professionally but it’s kept things new and exciting for me and it’s this reason alone that has kept me here 7 years later, looking forward to the next challenge.
Whether the beauty industry is your passion or not, L’Oreal is an amazing opportunity for any aspiring marketer to start their career and apply their trade.”
Nour Sukkar, Corporate Controller for L’Oreal Australia.
‘I began with L’Oreal in 2008 as an intern in the Consumer Products Division Finance team. I had just completed my 2nd year of Economics & Finance at RMIT and had to work full time in the industry for my 3rd year, so I interviewed for L’Oreal and got the job!
L’Oreal was a really attractive company to begin my Finance career with, as it was a brand I aspired to when I was younger, and it was important for me to work in a fun environment, even though I was working in Finance!
Little did I know, I would begin as an intern at L’Oreal at the age of 19, and 7 years later, having worked across 4 different divisions in many different finance roles, I would still be there.
The fast paced and dynamic nature of L’Oreal encourages entrepreneurship and hard work, whilst also being in a fun and enjoyable environment.
L’Oreal has been integral in shaping the person I am today – the experiences have been unforgettable and I have forged so many life-long friendships – I would highly recommend a career at L’Oreal!’
Eleanor Wilson, Marketing Intern L’Oréal Professionnel
I began the Internship program at L’Oréal in January 2015 after completing a Business Degree with a Marketing Major at La Trobe University.
My role as a Marketing Intern at LÓréal, a leading global business, has been an incredible start to my professional career as I am constantly challenged and rewarded in all areas of my work.
The professional products division has a strong emphasis on business innovation to continually enhance and develop the salon industry. Within my role I have gained exposure and experience to all aspects of the business including assisting with product and launch strategies, business analytics, launch execution and communications.
With a passionate, supportive and innovative team, every day I am continually encouraged to express new ideas and have input into building the brand. Within three months I had developed a digital stagey to transform the L’Oréal Professionnel social media platforms to gain stronger social exposure and build relationships with both consumers and our salon clients.
Every day at L’Oréal is a learning opportunity and this is what excites me the most. In an incredibly fast paced working environment I have been able to identify my strengths and gain professional development to improve areas where I have been challenged.
As a future Management trainee in 2016, I look forward to progressing within the company and experiencing new roles, coming across new challenges and building business strategies in diverse and passionate teams.
If you are passionate about the beauty industry, determined and continually inspired I encourage you to apply for the L’Oreal internship program as this is what dreams are made of!
