Graduate Purchasing Officer

The Role:

Dotmar Engineering Plastics are seeking a motivated, self-driven Graduate for a Purchasing Officer position to ensure the efficient management and execution of materials inventory planning and purchasing across the business in Australia and New Zealand. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will assess demand forecasts and manage the flow of goods and materials to ensure the continued productivity together with high levels of customer service.

Dotmar Engineering Plastics will provide extensive training and development opportunities for the right Graduate who is eager to learn and committed to self-development. Potential career growth opportunities include becoming a Purchasing Manager or Operations Manager.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation and processing of purchase orders in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Maintain purchasing records / data and pricing in the business system
  • Update Vendor Product file with description and pricing
  • Creation and maintenance of product master data
  • Managing and following up overseas orders and confirmations in a timely manner
  • Raising and monitoring of supplier claims
  • Provide support to all 8 profit centres and their teams with pricing enquiries, quotations, and proactive delivery updates
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery

Essential Criteria

The ideal candidate would be a recent graduate possessing strong numerical and communication skills as well as a passion for self-development and an eagerness to learn. We also welcome applications from final-year university student who meet all other the criteria and have availability to work full-time.

You will have:

  • Recently completed a bachelor's degree in business/commerce, logistics and supply chain (or other relevant degree)
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills and a professional manner
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Great rapport and relationship building abilities
  • Strong Microsoft software skills will be highly regarded, particularly experience with Microsoft Business Central (Navision)
  • Full Australian working rights, as sponsorship will not be offered for this role.
  • For this role you will need to have strong time management, the capability to work both autonomously and within a team and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
