Business Impact Internship

We believe in loving what we do: not because it's easy, but because it's challenging, and in facing those challenges we find ways to succeed.

Undertaking a Business Entrepreneur Internship with Project Everest Ventures means experiencing and applying the core principles of business, such as financial modelling, Business Model Canvas, and Lean Start-up methodologies, to a real-world environment with one of our social venture projects.  We combine this with the development of practical soft skills, including cross-cultural consultation and co-design, empathy-driven research methodologies, pitching and public speaking, leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration.

On an Internship with Project Everest Ventures, you’ll be working with a team on the development of one of our social ventures overseas in your university break. Our Ventures are focused on building sustainable communities with many impactful development projects, with an emphasis on Human-Centred methodologies, including Design Thinking and Lean business processes.

Practicing social entrepreneurship at this grassroots level in a developing country will expose you to challenges and insights that we guarantee will set you apart from other business students and graduates - all whilst contributing towards meaningful social impact.

Ventures that you could be working on include:

  • Social Consulting & Microfinance aims to remove barriers to affordable financial and business advice, coupled with micro-financing, to accelerate microenterprises and access to socially beneficial capital amongst local communities.
  • Female Sanitation & Hygiene seeks to enable better female sanitation practices, education and opportunities for all
  • Sustainable Fuel Consulting, focuses on developing a clean cook stove made from recycled materials that aims to reduce biomass usage by 50% to improve respiratory health, and resource-efficient cooking.

What can you expect from a Project Everest Internship?

  • You’ll be engaging directly with the local community.
In order to ensure our ventures are providing genuine impact and solving real issues, we work closely with members of the local community running workshops and focus groups, prototyping and feedback sessions, conducting surveys and interviewing, and distributing the socially beneficial products and services.
  • Every day is different.
Depending on what stage your venture is at during your internship, you could be doing completely different activities each day. If you’re surveying a local business owner one day, you could be meeting with a CEO the next. It’s definitely not your traditional start-up internship.
  • You will be contributing towards achieving a sustainable impact.
Whilst you won’t necessarily be creating social change every day, you’ll be part of developing a product or service that is needed, sustainable and scalable so that it can be rolled out to community members and change lives.
  • It will be challenging.
Building a start-up has its fair share of challenges, and when you’re working in a developing country with limited resources these are magnified…but that’s what makes the wins and subsequent social impact all that much sweeter in the end!
  • You’ll be building a competitive edge as a future Business graduate.
Yes, you’ll be applying the skills from your degree to a new context, however you’ll be gaining experiences that are beyond the scope of your discipline. Imagine being able to say yes to having experience in the start-up space, international development, cross-cultural communication, social enterprise, lean business principles, and design thinking methodologies... and you haven’t even graduated yet. That’s one way to differentiate yourself as a Business student, that’s for sure.

Who are we looking for?

If you're looking for voluntourism or an opportunity to add a line to your resume, then this is not for you. If you are committed to creating social change, sustainable social enterprises and achieving determined sustainability development goals across the globe, then we want to hear from you.

We are seeking passionate, socially-minded, and hard-working people to undertake our Internships, with the potential for further leadership and business training beyond. Be part of the social change and apply for your place now.

**Please note
