The best thing about Quantium is: The responsibility, opportunities and trust that seniors give to juniors to get out of the comfort zone and stretch themselves doing interesting and challenging work.

When did I know I wanted to become a data analyst: When I found how varied the role of analyst is.

What I wish I knew before becoming a Grad: People in the workforce are mostly relaxed, definitely keep trying to churn out quality work, but don’t stress so much that it affects your own wellbeing 

Describe your experience with Quantium in 3 words: Work in progress

When did I know I wanted to become a software engineer: In the really early days of iOS 1.0 when there wasn’t even an App Store. My brother gave me his iPod Touch, which was when I learnt how to gain root access, download snazzy themes and write my own tweaks

Fun fact: Used to be a professional pen spinner and participated in competitions!

When did I know I wanted to become a data analyst: When I realised how powerful the insights extracted from data can be, and analytics is just so widely applicable that as a data analyst, I can make an impact in any industry I’m passionate about

When did I know I wanted to become a data analyst: During university I realised I didn’t want to be constrained to a single area. I’ve always enjoyed random facts and being an analyst lets me explore any industry or topic

Fun fact: I was once on the news because I fell asleep during a soccer game, whilst playing

When did I know I wanted to become a data analyst: In my university days I knew that I wanted a job that adds value to others, is challenging and also dynamic in nature. Being a data analyst at Quantium ticked all these boxes and also enabled me to grow in many other ways

Fun fact: I love hiking despite being prone to falling down (what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!)

What I wish I knew before becoming a Grad: as a Grad the path you take is completely up to you and dependant on how proactive you are, saying yes to new opportunities and voicing your concerns

Describe your experience at Quantium in 3 words: Fun genuine relationships

When did I know I wanted to become a data analyst: I had an interest in using data to solve complex problems and completed an internship at Quantium, and enjoyed it. When I was offered a Grad offers I was not sure if I wanted to find a mechanical engineering job or go into data analytics. What I did know was that I would enjoy working at Quantium and be involved in a growing/ interesting industry

Fun fact: I have been reading a book called Red Mars for 3 years now and still haven’t finished it.. Honestly can’t remember the beginning, might have to start again

What I wish I knew before becoming a grad: how supportive everyone is within the company - everyone wants everybody else to succeed it's quite refreshing

Working at Quantium is like: collaborating with incredibly smart and talented people and trying to absorb as much as possible from them and the work everyday

When did I realise I wanted to become a data analyst: I've always loved problem solving and I wanted a career where I could grow and learn lots in that area so data analytics was an ideal role for me

Outside of work I enjoy: basketball, being out in the great outdoors

What I wish I knew before becoming a Grad: I wish I knew the power and importance of networking across peers, teams and the business in general. You never know the types of projects you might want to be involved with in the future and making a solid network early on really helps with the feeling of inclusion and purpose.

The best thing about Quantium is: The people and projects that I get to work with on a daily basis. 

When did I know I wanted to become a data analyst: About halfway through my first year, and I finally started to know enough about data analytics, the different avenues and the endless possibilities it can provide!

What I wish I knew before becoming a Grad: You didn’t finish your master’s degree and pass the interview only because of luck, be confident in yourself and don’t be shy in a new environment

When did I know I wanted to become a data analyst: When I became curious about why Woolies changed its reward system and how it could be used to make people’s life easier

What I wish I knew before become a grad: It would have been great if I had some prior exposure to SAS programming before starting work here. Definitely would’ve saved some headaches in the first few months!

The best thing about Quantium is: Working with a bunch of incredibly smart people and getting free t-shirts

When did I know I wanted to become a data analyst: In 15 weeks of mechanical engineering placement, my favourite project was an analysis that involved an abundance of probability and statistics. I decided that I wanted to do much more of this so a career in data analytics was very appealing.

When did I know I wanted to become a data analyst: I knew I wanted to work with numbers, but seeing the pathways/ opportunities Quantium offered was the point of realisation

Fun fact: I once booked an important flight for the wrong month, and didn’t realise until I was at the airport

What I wish I knew becoming before becoming a grad: Copious amounts of caffeine is not a sustainable substitute for a good nights sleep

When did I know I wanted to become a data analyst? When I realised that coding and problem solving was what I enjoyed the most in engineering, and I could do that every day as a data analyst
