Our Workplace Inclusion and Diversity Strategy 2019–23 aims to increase the representation of people with disability in our workforce including in senior leadership positions and to improve their capability and career development opportunities.
We aim to be a disability confident employer and to create an environment of trust where staff with disability feel comfortable to share their information with us.
Ben’s story shows how applying reasonable adjustment helps people with disability work effectively in the agency.
We are committed to eliminating or reducing barriers which prevent full participation at work and to provide a universally accessible workplace which supports staff with disability to fully contribute. We will build on our successful programs and approaches to supporting the employment and retention of people with disability, such as the Dandelion Program, Scanning Operations Centre and Koomarri JobMatch Team.
Our strategy supports the AsOne: APS Disability Employment Strategy 2016–19 and will be implemented in alignment with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employees Plan 2016–17 to support the employment, development and career progression of Indigenous people with disability.
We have an Affirmative Measures recruitment process for candidates who identify as having disability.
We also participate in the Australian Public Service (APS) RecruitAbility Scheme which supports the employment of people with disability in the APS.
