Graduate Software Engineer - Brisbane - Immediate Start

The Graduate Software Engineer is responsible for the support and delivery of software solutions that provide a capability to Shell Energy to implement its strategic plans as well as to flex to meet its future business goals.

This role requires a Graduate who is a self-starter, prepared to learn and work with several technologies and architectural approaches to uplift Shell Energy’s technical capability and remediate technical debt.  Your demonstrable self-organising behaviours will propose solutions, complete tasks, and achieve goals whether working collaboratively or independently.  You will embrace challenges, ask questions and explore alternative solutions to accomplish objectives.  Your ability to adapt to changes and focus on successful outcomes will support your team to drive efficiency.  You will thrive in an inclusive one-team culture and promote and protect it.
The Graduate Software Engineer will work collaboratively within an Agile Squad to create, support and enhance products and areas of functionality it owns.  The cradle to grave solution approach embraces our DevOps model and is delivered in alignment with our values and culture.

About you:

As a Graduate Software Engineer you will demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Awareness of full lifecycle of IT Systems delivery;
  • Problem solver not coder;
  • Innovative and questioning mindset to explore ideas and prototype solutions;
  • Interest in latest technology trends;
  • A drive to find the root cause of issues and resolve them so that they never recur;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Can-do attitude to roll-up sleeves and deliver working software;
  • Continually develop skills and inspire improvements in others;
  • Confident collaboration style that encourages swarming to deliver together as a team;
  • Excellent work ethics to excel in collaborative, passionate and dynamic environment;
  • Experience working with stakeholders in a commercial IT environment will be valued;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics CRM domain and related technologies such as C#, .Net, SQL & JavaScript will be well regarded; and
  • Exposure to Cloud technologies such as AWS (not mandatory) will be beneficial.
