2023 Graduate and Cadetship Program - GIS Development & Programming

Jumpstart your GIS Development and Programming career with Spatial Vision.

Now in its 20th year, the Spatial Vision Graduate and Cadetship Program offers graduates a powerful start to their career in GIS Development and Programming. Joining Spatial Vision's Enterprise Spatial Solutions team, you will become a member of a highly capable team who build GIS databases, servers, and web and desktop applications using proprietary and open source software for clients in the Government, Commercial and NFP sectors.

You will have the opportunity to work on ESRI, VertiGIS (Geocoretex), QGIS, AWS and other cloud services and deliver to deliver solutions to our clients on time and on budget and promote digital transformation aligned with their business goals.

You'll have the opportunity to explore different areas of specialisation, gain real project experience and see the inner workings of a successful software and spatial professional services company. You'll also get to:

  • Experience all aspects of software development in the geospatial domain
  • Apply and develop your skills in modern geospatial tools and frameworks
  • Work alongside and be supported by leading professionals
  • Identify and coordinate your own research & development project

As a preferred candidate you might have:

  • A degree in Geospatial Science, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related IT field with a love for developing tools for GIS.
  • A general understanding of the software development life cycle, software deployment processes and cloud infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of spatial data visualisation, spatial data management and/or geospatial platforms
  • Basic Python programming skills
  • An understanding of spatial databases such as Esri geodatabases, SQL Server Spatial Data or PostgresSQL/PostGIS
  • An desire to apply and develop your skills in GIS development and programming
  • A desire to learn and contribute to a passionate team

  • have completed your undergraduate and/or Master’s degree between January 2018 and January 2023
  • have completed a relevant degree appropriate to the stream you are applying for
  • be an Australian / New Zealand citizen or an Australian permanent resident or hold a visa with full working rights
  • be located in (or willing to relocate to) Melbourne, Victoria
