Environmental Engineering Internship

Responsibilities for intern, environmental

• Assist with identifying and supporting site environmental improvement projects
• Identify site waste streams, evaluate opportunities to reduce waste and implement alternative disposal methods to eliminate waste to landfill
• Identify plausible opportunities to reduce site energy use
• Educate contractors, visitors and site personnel on waste reduction, recycling and energy use
• Learn the requirements of the Environmental & Energy Management Systems as well compliance standards ISO 14001 and ISO 50001
• Calculate and track performance against site and regional energy/environmental KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) on a monthly basis
• Communicate relevant KPI’s to stakeholders and the site
• Provide environmental analysis for plant Risk Assessments
• Assist with the management of site environmental incidents, environmental aspects
• Assist with developing site organization, resources, and people in order to have a structure to control risks and environmental emergencies

Qualifications for intern, environmental

• Must be currently enrolled student, sophomore level or above, in Natural Sciences, Biology, Natural Resources
• Management, Environmental Sciences, or Environmental Engineering
• Minimum 2.50 GPA in a Bachelor’s degree program (transcripts must be provided)
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to various work locations
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds repetitively throughout the day to complete necessary work tasks during field biological work
• Currently in pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
• Junior or Senior level of Bachelor's Degree in Environmental with 0-12 months related experience

Internship Type: 3 - month unpaid internship
Working days: 3- 4 days a week
