A place to belong

At Telstra, we have talented and passionate people, exciting career pathways and a supportive and inclusive culture. Over 33,000 people in more than 20 countries make up the Telstra family. We’re from diverse backgrounds, with a huge variety of skills and talents. We believe that by promoting diversity and inclusion we can enrich our communities, our workforce and the experience of our customers.

Here, you’ll belong to a team working towards our vision of becoming a world-class technology company that empowers people to connect. We’re putting the customer at the heart of everything we do, in every corner of the country – and you’ll be able to help us make a real difference to all the communities in which we operate. We’re working on things like increasing Indigenous employment, and better connections through digital literacy programs, e-health and community partnerships.

We value growth opportunities for all our people, so you can develop and build a career with a bright future. You’ll be part of a team that respects each other and welcomes new and different ideas. We’ll support you to fulfil your potential – and encourage you to nurture and encourage others, too. You’ll also have flexibility in how you work, because we know it’s what you do, not where you are, that matters most. And you’ll be supported all the way through our strong Indigenous employees’ network.

Explore our site to see the inspiring stories of some of our Indigenous employees and find out how we’re working to achieve positive educational, health and economic outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. Take a look at the work we’re doing around reconciliation and how we’re working with Indigenous communities to create a brilliant connected future for everyone.

When you join Telstra it’s like an extension of family, a big community where everyone is focused on working together. That means that connections are important – it helps you get things done, but also means you have support when things are challenging.

We have about 36,000 people who are based all over the country and in our international locations; we’re from diverse backgrounds, all with a diverse set of skills and talents. Diversity to us is differences in thinking styles, background and life experience, communication styles, personal skills, education, functional expertise and problem solving skills. It also includes other ways that our people differ, including gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity and cultural identity.

We have many employee networks where you can build relationships, get support and help others too. These include our Indigenous Employees’ Network, our Gender Equality Network (for women and men), our “Enable” network for employees with a disability and carers, and our “Spectrum” network for gay, lesbian, bisexual transgender and intersex employees and straight allies. Telstra Indigenous employees can also join the National Indigenous Corporate Network, which is organised by the Diversity Council Australia.

Like in any large organisation, at Telstra, success is about being connected to the colleagues who can help you get things done. You’ll have a diverse and talented group of colleagues working with you, who’ll support you in your development and with whom you’ll achieve great things.
