What better way to shape your career than by shaping and influencing the lives of our students and future generations?
From your first day, this warm and welcoming environment will make you feel like you belong to something bigger - a united, close knit school community, all working together towards building stronger connections. You will find genuine support and guidance from our caring, talented mentors during the early stages of your career, navigating you through each step of the way.
Mentoring and support
Your assigned mentor will be an experienced teacher who will regularly engage with you, providing feedback and support, sharing ideas and encouraging reflection, development and growth.
Your mentor will support you in developing teaching strategies and skills, becoming familiar with the school’s values and culture, developing a good working knowledge of school policies and procedures, and establishing professional networks. Your mentor will also assist you in preparing your first-year portfolio for full registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
You will attend a 1.5-day conference in Townsville; meet other beginning teachers, professional development, guest speakers. Travel, meals and accommodation paid for by TCEO.
Experience a day in another school – this is an opportunity to spend a day in another school in a similar year level with an experienced teacher, which helps you to see how other teachers work.
