Alex Giang – Business Analyst

Bachelor of Business Information Systems, Business Analysis & Marketing

I am currently working on a client-based project as a Business Analyst, with a focus on digital transformation. Client is based in the Financial Services industry, with a major focus in Superannuation and Insurance.

In our first week at Wipro, we were trained by the Learning & Development Team with Professional Training, which covered various topics including Professionalism in the workplace, Professional Attire, meeting critique and most importantly; how we should present ourselves to managers, clients and employees in higher positions.

The sessions that were conducted were very helpful and insightful in terms of building our understanding of "professionalism" and the way you should present yourself in different settings.

Over a 6 week period, we were allocated into a various number of areas that required technical training which was split into two sections; One with an Instructor and one with our manager/mentor in the specific department. This is where we were allocated to the same team. Through technical training, we had an instructor fly over from India to teach us that certain skillset. For us; it was Python.

In the second section of the training, we were split into the department; in which for us was with our manager; Faiz; a very experienced manager at Wipro; specialising in Artificial Intelligence & Automation. As we were quite new; it was a great experience for all of us to be able to work with someone with that calibre of experience.

In that training, we were split into small teams; tasked with creating viable solutions that were related to real-world problems before proposing the solution. Being honest; we had our ups and downs including several tough moments but they were resolved quickly. That is normal. You will have your issues but you have to learn to adapt and work together to solve the task that has been given to you!

At Wipro, one of the major benefits of being an employee is having access to a wide array of learning materials and opportunities to become certified in specific areas. Normally these materials cost money, but for employees; it is available for free and for us to use.

Especially since we are graduates, we are still learning and one major aspect of the IT industry is that it is a growing and highly demanding. Technology is changing the way we work and how we interact in our social and professional lives. As we are now in a global pandemic, this is evident and shows that growing our skillsets will be a long term asset.

Don't be afraid to continue your learning and upskilling because you will thank yourself later down the track.

Wipro

Christopher Littlewood

I studied a Bachelor of Information Technology majoring in Computer Science at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane. I minored in Mobile Application Development and in Networks and Security. After being approached by a recruiter for Wipro on LinkedIn, I did some research on the company and I discovered that Wipro was on the forefront of new and exciting technologies which was exactly where I wanted to be.

The past four months have been fantastic. I have enjoyed being included in a friendly and professional work environment where I have been encouraged to grow and expand my knowledge. Since joining WIpro I have learned many useful skills that I feel will come in handy throughout my career.

One of the main reasons I enjoy working for Wipro is that the company puts trust in its employees to do their jobs independently, correctly and in a timely fashion. I love that I do not have anyone breathing down my neck but at the same time, there is always someone I can turn to if I am struggling with something.

Where and what did you study

I received my Bachelor of Information Technology at Macquarie University, where I majored in Business Analysis and Information Systems.

Why did you join Wipro

I joined Wipro in January 2020, as a part of one of their graduate intakes. I was very excited to join, due to Wipro being a large, multinational business, as well as the high praise the company received when I consulted a family friend who has worked in the industry for many years. Knowing I was a part of a graduate intake made the leap into my first professional job a lot less daunting, knowing I'd be going through the journey with many people in the same situation.

What Business Unit did you start in and some of the cool/great work that the business does

Due to my degree, I received a junior business analyst position in one of Wipro's government projects. It wasn't too long later that I realised that university can only teach you so much, as I was still learning so much more on the job. I have recently become a change coordinator for our stream within the project, and I'm very eager to learn more skills in this area and see where it takes me.

How’s your experience of working at Wipro

It's been very exciting to see how a large project works, and being able to use my skills to add value and contribute to my team. It may seem silly, but I remember sitting in on my first ever conference call being an exhilarating experience, but I've been told it loses that affect after a few years of daily meetings. Regardless, I'm looking forward to continuing to grow my skills and career in the company, and can't wait to see what the future holds.

Wipro

Sneha

I completed my bachelor’s degree in information science and technology and started my career at Wipro as IT graduate engineer in January 2020. I always wanted to build my career in the IT industry and Wipro is the perfect platform to achieve my goals.

Wipro is a company which I have known since my childhood since many of my relatives and friends worked or are still working there. It is a well-organised, collaborative and globally established IT company. For me, the company is the fusion of good work culture, innovation, growth prospects and opportunities.

In the first 6 weeks I was trained on SAP Basis and the training was very beneficial since it is helping me in my current role. Along with the technical course we were also given information about the company’s policies, technologies and infrastructure.

After the initial training period I was assigned to AMS (Application management support) at one of our clients’ location. My current responsibility is metering, which is one of the modules in SAP ISU. My team is responsible for providing resolutions to incidents, service requests and change requests. I find it very exciting to resolve new issues which we receive from SAP users.

I feel lucky to work for a company like WIPRO, where you get a platform to follow your interest and expand your knowledge. I met many people who have been working for WIPRO for more than 25 years which shows that Wipro really cares about their employees. WIPRO provides encouragement, diverse workforce, freedom to share our opinions and opportunities to explore different domains. I believe my journey with Wipro will be memorable and I see myself working here for a long time with lot of enthusiasm.

Ever since I have started working at Wipro, I have developed self-confidence and achieved a positive mindset. Wipro provides hands-on training which helped me develop non-technical skills such as leadership, collaboration and communication skills as well as technical skills such as data analysis, project management, new programming languages and many more which have all aided in reaching my potential and achieving great growth and development.

One memorable moment at Wipro

My memorable moment at Wipro was the first day I started working, I immediately felt like I was already part of the work family, as everyone was friendly, understanding and welcoming. Due to COVID 19 restrictions we are now working from home however I miss working in the office and interacting with my team-mates as well as making new friends at work.
