Current Placement Opportunities

Drilling and Completions

We accept candidates from all engineering disciplines. As a drilling or completions engineer, your job involves working in a team to engineer a safe and efficient well design that intersects the reservoir, and allows hydrocarbons to be produced. Alongside office work, your time in D&C will allow you opportunities to work offshore to gain valuable practical experience, at home or abroad. A mix of training (both formal and on-the-job) will provide you with the skills you need for a successful career.

Subsea and Pipelines

Subsea and Pipelines supports all phases of asset life cycle, from assessing development opportunities to executing projects and operating and maintaining producing assets. You will be exposed to all the technical disciplines within subsea and pipelines engineering, involved in activities including project management, engineering, construction and technical support to operations.

Commercial

The Commercial function supports value creation and value delivery activities in Woodside, through strategy development, investment and market analysis, and negotiating and managing agreements.

As a Vacation student in the Commercial function you will receive broad business exposure and the opportunity to contribute to business opportunities, including through investment analysis, exploration transactions, equity transactions, project agreements and joint venture management.

Engineering – Instrument & Controls

Instrumentation Controls (IC) engineers are responsible for front-line engineering support for instrumentation, control systems on Woodside’s onshore and offshore operating facilities. You will work in a multi-disciplinary engineering team and will be primarily responsible for troubleshooting, investigating and optimising equipment and work processes, to maximise the longer-term integrity and availability of the facilities. In addition, you will have the opportunity to be in the design teams for new projects where construction and commissioning support is needed.

Engineering – Mechanical

As an upstream oil and gas company with both offshore and onshore facilities, there are a wide variety of opportunities at Woodside for mechanical engineering graduates covering the breadth of the mechanical engineering discipline.

Engineering – Civil and Structural

At Woodside, civil and structural engineering encompasses the disciplines of civil, geotechnical, metocean and structural engineering. As a student you will support maintenance of existing onshore operating facilities. Civil engineers are also involved with developing process plant layouts, and with location and site selection assessments. They help define logistics support infrastructure for facility construction.

Engineering – Electrical

Electrical engineers are responsible for front-line engineering support for the electrical systems on Woodside’s onshore and offshore operating facilities. As a Student , you will work in a multi-disciplinary engineering team and will be primarily responsible for troubleshooting, investigating and optimising equipment and work processes, to maximise the longer-term integrity and availability of the facilities. In addition you will have the opportunity to be in the design teams for new projects where construction and commissioning support is needed.

Engineering – Materials, inspection and corrosion

Materials, inspection and corrosion (MIC) engineers ensure appropriate materials are selected, corrosion is effectively managed and that inspection strategies are optimised and implemented.

MIC is both challenging and rewarding, and will expose you to many technical challenges faced by our producing onshore, offshore and subsea assets, as well as to those associated with developing new facilities.

Engineering – Marine

Naval architects manage all structural, stability, motion and mooring related issues associated with Woodside’s current and future fleet of floating production storage and offloading facilities (FPSOs), and are also integral to maintaining Class and Marine Statutory compliance. Naval architects are involved with mooring of drilling rigs and all aspects of offshore installation, construction and decommissioning operations.

Marine engineers manage marine systems including, propulsion, steering, cargo, ballast, steam, lifeboats and lifesaving equipment for our existing and future fleet of FPSOs for the full asset life cycle, from concept design through to operations and decommissioning, continually ensuring compliance with all Marine Statutory and Class requirements

Engineering - Process and Process Controls

Process engineers are involved in the conceptual and detailed design, installation, commissioning and start-up of new projects – both onshore and offshore. Process engineers at Woodside have the opportunity to support two LNG processing plants based in Karratha, Western Australia, or to support one of several offshore oil or gas facilities.

Process engineers are also sought to support many other areas of the business where their general engineering skills can be used to improve the way the business works.
