Responsibilities

A residential opportunity exists for Graduate Process Engineer who is currently a penultimate/final year student of their Engineering Degree. This position is based in Karratha, Western Australia and is a 3-year, fixed term role that will work closely with Process Engineers. The Graduate Process Engineer will provide support to the ongoing improvement initiatives, reliability and maintenance of our existing site plant(s).  The graduate process engineer will provide technical support for ongoing projects such as Renewable Hydrogen, Blue Ammonia, and Turnaround.

As part of this program our Graduate Engineers complete on the job training in multiple areas at our production facility, they are allocated highly trained and skilled mentors at different stages of the program to help guide their development. Yara's Graduate Program also includes a 2-year training program with Engineers Education Australia which includes off the site workshops and eLearning projects and activities. 

You will gain experience and contribute to the following areas:

  • Management of production related projects working in close conjunction with maintenance (project) team
  • Develop and review scope of works for CAPEX projects and other production related projects 
  • Review process operating parameters and quality results to identify potential issues and or improvements
  • Root cause analysis when/if required
  • Update procedures and P&IDs
  • Plant monitoring including standard and nonstandard collection / analysis and escalate issues as required
  • Job coordination with process operators and maintenance personnel
  • Understand requirements of working on a major hazard facility
  • Understanding of engineering and statutory requirements for a process (chemical) plant
  • Demonstrate commitment to future development via internal and external training
  • Understand and learn planning, budgeting and cost control processes
  • Familiarise with various tools, test equipment used in industry for process plant operation and analysis of issues

Profile

  • Applicants must be currently completing their penultimate/final year of studying a Masters or Honours of Process or Chemical Engineering
  • Must be available to commence full-time employment in early 2022
  • All candidates must submit a cover letter, resume and their latest academic results (minimum credit average) as part of the application
  • Having undertaken previous Chemical/Process Engineering vacation work is desirable
  • Microsoft office and database management skills
  • Demonstrated employment history is desirable
  • Sound teamwork, communication skills and a commitment to quality
  • Strong written and verbal skills
