How to become a Graduate Architect?

To pursue a career as a Graduate Architect, you should:

  2. Obtain a Postgraduate Qualification : To become a registered architect in Australia, a Master of Architecture degree is typically required. Ensure that the program is accredited by the Architects Accreditation Council Of Australia (AACA).
  3. Gain Hands-On Professional Experience : Seek internships or work placements in architectural firms to gain practical experience.
  4. Undertake the Architectural Practice Examination (APE) : This three-part competency assessment process is available to sit twice a year and involves the completion of a logbook, an online exam and an interview.
  5. Apply for Registration : Apply for registration to become a practising architect with your state or territory’s Architect Registration Board.
  6. Build a Portfolio : Continue to create a strong portfolio showcasing your design and planning skills.
