Meet our Graduates

AMP

Rianna, Global Distribution and Business Management (GDBM)
Degree: Bach. of Business (Accounting) and International Studies (Japanese)

“AMP Capital is growing in so many regions and GDBM enables grads to play an integral role in this – driving business growth, reengineering data, risk management and strategic priorities. The GDBM program focuses on developing technical and global leadership skills, and provides great exposure to our clients, funds and international teams. GDBM grads come from so many different backgrounds – Criminology to Economics, Law to Psychology. I was set on applying not just to a firm that had international business dealings, but to a program that would provide direct exposure to international clients, cultures, and global engagement. GDBM ticked all the boxes.”

Ishan, Financial Services
Degree: Bach. of Biomedical Engineering (Honours) / Bach. of Commerce (Finance)

“Originally I wasn’t sure which area of business I wanted to pursue and the Financial Services stream provided a great opportunity to gain exposure across a number of different roles and teams, which helped me understand where my interests were. The skills I developed throughout my Engineering degree have assisted me significantly during the Analytical and project-based roles I have undertaken throughout the program. Through my experience I understand the increasing importance of customer experience and ultimately, I see myself in a role where I can have an impact on product development, with a focus on the end customer.”

Ramali, Public Markets
Degree: Bach. of Commerce (Finance & Economics)

“I was most attracted to the unique two-year rotational structure which gives exposure across a diverse range of asset classes, enabling exposure to numerous investment styles and valuation methodologies. The best surprise since I started has been the level of commitment to supporting graduates. From skill development workshops, insights sessions and catch ups across different business areas - AMP fosters a truly inclusive, supportive culture. People are always willing to give their time to graduates.”

Daniel, Technology
Degree: Bach. of Electrical Engineering / Bach. of Computer Science

“I chose the AMP program because graduates get the opportunity to rotate through a wide variety of business areas which means you get exposure to a broad range of technologies including Cloud, Wed / Mobile App Development, Digital, Cyber Security and Investment Management technologies. This has enabled me to develop an understanding of what area of Tech I am truly passionate about. There is a real emphasis on giving graduates meaningful work to do which can push you out of your comfort zone. The strong support network has given me the confidence to really stretch myself. I feel as though the program and rotation managers really understand what you’re after in terms of career development, and make a real effort to meet your expectations.

Summer, Real Estate
Degree: Bach. of Commerce (Finance) / Bach. of Laws

“For me, AMP Capital Real Estate was the perfect opportunity. I didn’t know exactly what area of Property I wanted to pursue, and the Real Estate program is extremely unique in the rotations it offers. There’s no other grad program like it in the market. I think I came onto the graduate program thinking I was a certain type of person who would want to go into a certain type of role, but the program has taught me to be open to things that I would previously have closed off without a second thought. My mentors encouraged me to broaden my experience and to learn as much as I can in a really supportive environment. I’ve realised that the culture is really unique here, and the opportunities that I’ve had in my rotations have been invaluable.”

Abbey, Technology
Degree: Bach. of Computer Science (Info. Systems & E-Commerce)

”I have always had a passion to help people find the right solutions through technology. AMP offers the opportunity to work on different projects and use innovative technology that has a real impact on Australians. It’s satisfying knowing that your work contributes to the greater strategy of the company and I’m having an impact. The rotational grad program provides a great and well supported opportunity to work out what I want to focus on in my career. Ultimately my aspiration is to progress in the technology space focusing on Digital Strategy and Solutions.”

Camille, Global Distribution & Business Mgmt Alumni 2014
Current Role: ESG Investment Researcher

Career Highlight… My career highlight so far is when I was chosen to represent AMP Capital at the United Nations Conference on the Status of Women in New York in 2019. It was incredible to be in the room with so many amazing women from around the world who are all trying to build on women’s future. From the graduate program at AMP Capital I was able to gain access to senior leaders and executives who are so passionate about their roles and willing to give you their experience. This has lead me to where I am today as an ESG Investment Researcher, and the amazing career opportunities I have been presented with.

John, Global Distribution & Business Mgmt Alumni 2014
Current Role: Business Associate, North West Region (based in London)

Career after the graduate program… Following the graduate program, I have had the opportunity to lead several strategic initiatives including organisational restructures and a major ESG initiative. More recently, I have relocated to AMP Capital’s London office, and support AMP Capital’s Global Head of Infrastructure Equity with strategy, projects and day to day business management which has provided an exceptional career and growth opportunity. If I had to use one word to describe the Global Distribution & Business Management graduate stream, it would be exposure.

Goldie, Real Estate Alumni 2014
Current Role: Assistant Development Manager

Career Highlight… During my time with AMP Capital I have had a number of highlights, but more importantly I have found the individuals in the business have a great culture of sharing learnings and are always happy to help, which has provided me with amazing development opportunities.

The two highlights of my time here would be winning the International Challenge and heading to New York to research new models of business for Real Estate, and going on an international secondment to the US and UK with Infrastructure Debt for three months. Both were eye opening experiences, particularly as AMP Capital continues its rapid growth internationally.

Josh, Financial Services Alumni 2013
Current Role: Head of the CEO Office, AMP Group

Why start your career with AMP… AMP is a fantastic place to start your career. You get a unique opportunity to learn from some of the best leaders in the sector, and the network you develop on the graduate program is pretty incredible and really sets you up for your future career journey.

And some might say most importantly, it is a fun place to work – you need to be somewhere where you want to come in to work every day, and AMP provides that time and time again.

Faye, Financial Services Alumni 2010
Current Role: Manager, Advice Solution Design

During my time with AMP…. Starting as a Finance graduate, I never thought I’d have the type of career I’ve had at AMP! I’ve worked across so many different parts of the business. I’ve sent time in Product in a highly technical financial markets role, moving on to a design based creative role in Customer, and more recently taken the Design lens and leading teams to deliver a range of strategies technology projects within Advice.

The graduate program really taught me to not be afraid to try something that feels outside of the comfort zone, because this is when you’ll experience the most amount of career growth.

“The Public Markets graduate program gave me a unique introduction to the funds management team. The autonomy of each team, in terms of setting their own investment process and internal structure, meant that every rotation provided a new set of challenges, opportunities and skills to be learned. In each team I rotated through, I was actively included in their investment process and given tasks and projects that not only added to my own skill set and knowledge, but also added value to the team. Through this graduate program, I’ve had amazing opportunities to meet with senior executives of both Australian and foreign listed companies, learn from leading industry analysts and attend conferences and industry networking events. Outside of the technical knowledge gained, the broader AMP Capital graduate program has a significant focus on personal development, including a range of soft skills, which I found to be extremely useful as I left the graduate program and entered my first analyst role. The number of employees in Public Markets who started on the graduate program is a testament to its success, and, as a result, I found everyone was more than willing to donate their time to the graduates, whether it be for technical knowledge, career advice or just to have another friendly face on the floor.”

As an AMP Capital Real Estate graduate I was given so many opportunities to learn and develop as a Real Estate professional. The program allowed me to have experience across the entire business from being on site with our assets to see how they are managed, to understanding the financial models that inform our investment decisions. The rotational nature of the program was fantastic as it allowed me to develop a broad network within the business, have flexibility to work on tasks and projects that I was interested in, and gain a really thorough understanding of AMP Capital and Real Estate as a business. After 18 months in the program, I secured a role in the development team as a Development Manager for the Quay Quarter Tower project at Circular Quay – AMP Capital’s landmark project.
Current Role: Assistance Development Manager, Quay Quarter Project
