ABOUT THE ROLE
Liverpool City Council (Council) has an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Pavement Engineer to join our Infrastructure Planning and Design team. The purpose of the position is to assist with pavement investigations, development of pavement designs and specifications, and the forward planning and programming of pavement works to be undertaken. Through these activities, the position contributes to improving the overall condition of Council’s Road network, and the achievement of best practice in road asset management. Key responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to) the following:
02-09-2024- Assisting with on-site investigations, including testing pavement materials and associated ground conditions, and collecting relevant data. This includes spending significant time on-site, and operating drill-rig machinery, whilst undertaking field work
- Assisting with interpreting and analysing data collected, to inform decision making.
- Contributing to the development of solutions to address pavement issues and achieve maximum return on investment. This includes consideration to social and environmental factors, optimum intervention levels, appropriate scoping and design, selection of long-lasting and cost-effective materials and treatments, and construction methodologies.
- Assisting with the development of pavement treatment designs / specifications, preparation of sketches, cost estimates and other documentation required.
- Liaise with project delivery staff to assist with execution of the required pavement works.
- Assisting with the review and monitoring of the performance of implemented pavement designs / treatments, to inform continuous improvement processes.
- Assisting with the update of database/s of pavement engineering related information.
- Contributing to the development of systems to manage pavement engineering related information.
- Assisting with the implementation of / updates to Council’s Road Asset Management Plan.Liaising and consulting with internal and external stakeholders, as required.
- Assisting with the provision of technical advice on pavement design and construction methodologies.
- Other duties as reasonably directed by the Manager Infrastructure Planning, Coordinator Asset Planning and Management, or Pavement Engineer.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualifications.
- Class C Drivers Licence.
- White Card/General Construction Induction Card (or willingness to obtain).
- Demonstrated experience (either at university or in the workforce) in developing technical reports.
- Demonstrated basic experience (either at university or in the workforce) in pavement investigation and evaluation activities.
- Demonstrated experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements available.
- Ability to accrue up to 2 days of flexitime leave per month, which equates to up to 24 days per year (This is in addition to 4 weeks of annual leave per year).
