About the Role As a current university student or recent graduate, you will be in a position to participate in the numerous projects currently underway at Council. As one of the fastest growing areas in NSW, this is one of the most exciting periods to be working in Local Government. As a planner, you will rotate through the Development Assessment and Strategic Planning team, getting a full understanding of what is involved in assessing Development Applications and creating the framework and strategic intent of Council in the Strategic Planning. Key Accountabilities:
  • Assist to assess, review and report on development applications in a timely manner to comply with legislation, statutory and control code obligations.
  • Undertake research to assist with review and decision-making regarding development application assessments.
  • Participate in pre-development application meetings as appropriate.
  • Attend Council and Planning Panel meetings to present and respond to enquiries regarding development applications and recommendations.
  • Participate in stakeholder engagement activities to understand and meet the needs of the local community.
About you  We are looking for someone who has:
  • Completed a minimum of 2 years of your Urban & Regional Planning degree; or
  • Graduated in 2022, 2023 or due to complete in 2024 from your Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
You will have current working rights in Australia and will need to demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills.
