Daimler Truck AuP (DTAuP) is looking for a diligent and innovative university student to join the Daimler Trucks technical team as a Product Management and Engineering Assistant for our Freightliner and Fuso brands. Our IBL 2025 Program:

Daimler Truck supports Industry Based Learning year after year and continues to develop our program and students who participate.  We have had many successful applicants carve their future careers in our industry after building sound career foundations through our IBL program.  Based at our corporate Head Office in Mulgrave, we aim to provide you with the opportunity take up a flexible work approach, enabling you to begin your career with a prestigious global brand with your needs in mind. The program will commence mid-January 2025. You will need to commit to full-time office hours until end of January 2026.

To qualify for this program, you must be an undergraduate student currently completing your penultimate year of study.  As at January 2025, you should have a remaining 12 months or 2 semesters of study to complete your degree.  Ideally, this role would suit students undertaking a Mechanical Engineering degree, majoring in Mechatronics would be an advantage.

 

The role:

As the Product Management and Engineering Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the product management and engineering activities of Freightliner or Fuso, whilst collaborating with your team to work towards achieving company goals. 

Key tasks will include:

·       Providing engineering technical support to dealers and body builders

·       Assisting with the design, development and procurement of local kits

·       Assisting with rating letters and spec sheets, assisting with the development of new model Specs and pricing

·       Use 3D CAD software to design components and create drawings

·       Creation of wiring harnesses and drawing in 2D CAD

·       Assisting with the safety feature demonstration days

As the successful candidate, you will apply your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build positive business relationships as well as have a high attention to detail. You will enjoy working in a fast paced and dynamic environment. Above all, as you will be working in a small team, you will be team oriented and have a flexible and adaptable attitude to the changing needs of the business.

We are looking for innovative and highly driven students with a keen desire to help shape our fast growing global business. You will display excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills as well as a high attention to detail. You will enjoy working with others and will bring out of the box thinking and a genuine passion for our industry.  You will have a strong interest in immersing yourself in this role in order to achieve greater insights into this business unit, and the Truck industry as a whole.
