Research Associate role within the Global Listed Infrastructure team 

The Global Listed Infrastructure (GLI) strategy was started in 2012 as a partnership between the founding GLI Principals and MBA, and is majority owned by the GLI co-founders and investment team. The strategy, which manages approximately A$4.5 billion in AUM as at June 30 2023, is looking to hire a graduate, or student close to completion of their studies in the role of Research Associate. This will be a full-time role based in our office in Sydney. The Research Associate will be responsible for providing detailed financial and qualitative analysis for a range of global infrastructure stocks including researching infrastructure companies and investment themes, developing financial models, meeting with company management and supporting the overall research process. As a member of a collaborative team they will undertake adhoc duties as required to support the business and its clients. This is an excellent buy-side investment entry point for a high achiever.

What are the primary responsibilities of the role?

· Developing and maintaining financial models for a range of infrastructure assets. 

· Support the integration of ESG into investment analysis and decision making through stock and sector level analysis of relevant ESG factors. 

· Researching opportunities across global infrastructure companies and related investment themes.

· Creating and updating other internal models and data.

· Supporting the lead Analysts or Portfolio Managers in preparation of research ideas for portfolio recommendations.

· Managing relationships with company contacts and meeting with company management.

· Staying up to date with relevant investment and trading news and economic trends.

· Assist in the collation of fund investment performance, risk and attribution reporting, and related presentation materials, for both internal and external purposes.

· Other tasks as required to support the GLI team.

Who should apply?

Graduates, or students about to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, engineering, actuarial studies, law or related fields. Students must either have Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency or hold the appropriate visa to enable them to already lawfully reside and work in Australia. The below qualifications, experience and skills are also required:

· A demonstrated passion for investments with a detailed understanding of financial markets. 

· Strong personal and professional ethos and a capacity to hold contrarian views and justify them.

· Highly numerate with exceptional analytical skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access).

· Proficiency in various financial management software, such as FactSet, Bloomberg Terminal is an advantage.

· Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

· Outstanding presentation skills.

· Highly organised and detail oriented.

· Collaboration is a key part of the job, as is sharing information among peers.

· A “growth” mindset of openness, collaboration, desire to learn and grow personally and to assist those around them grow, and a commitment to always working with our clients.

· Progress towards professional certification as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or similar post-graduate / industry qualification is favourable.
