What is the Trainee Program?

Combine your university studies with work experience to build the perfect foundation for your career, all while receiving professional and financial support in a paid role.

To be eligible to join the Trainee Program, you must have two full-time years of study remaining on your undergraduate degree course and have already completed: 

  • the first year of a three-year single degree; or, 

  • the first two years of a four-year double degree; or, 

  • the first three years of a five-year degree.

Balance is important to us. That's why you'll receive one day of paid study while working four days a week on a paid salary.  After this period, take a break from work to complete your degree.

In the External Audit team, you’ll find yourself in a culture that values curiosity, collaboration and critical thinking. Alongside your peers, you’ll create solutions for problems like complex accounting transactions and provide recommendations to clients to improve the overall control environment of the organisation. You'll use problem-solving, integrity and a growth mindset to make an impact in Banking & Insurance, Retail, Healthcare, Real Estate & Investments, Construction, Energy, Utilities, Resources, Transport & Logistics. Along the way, you’ll build relationships and skills to set you up for a lifetime of success. 

What will a normal day look like?

  • Reviewing financial information to provide trust to our clients and their stakeholders by ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations

  • Building  and maintaining professional relationships both externally and internally whilst also developing strong communication, problem solving and accounting technical skills

  • Work in dynamic team environments to solve complex problems for our clients

As a Trainee in External Audit, you’ll be working towards a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, STEM, IT or Computer Science.You’ll also need to be either an AU citizen, NZ citizen or AU Permanent Resident.

Anticipated start date is January 13, 2025.
