Your Background?
I was born in Melbourne and grew up here throughout my whole life. I went to Melbourne University majoring in Accounting and Finance. After graduating with a bachelor of commerce I took a gap year travelling with friends and family and learning a lot about different cultures. To me that year was one of the most memorable time because it gave me a new perspective on life especially when traveling to developing countries and seeing people that were not as fortunate as we are in Australia but still be able to have a fulfilled life.

1. What do you do? What are the duties, functions and responsibilities that you are involved in as a part of your role?
I have spent the past year as an auditor with SW. We are responsible for assuring financial statements are reasonably stated and comply with relevant accounting standards, so a lot of what we do involves understanding our client’s business processes in order to assess and reach our objective of reasonable assurance. We work individually but also in teams, so there’s always some support.

Our Assurance and Advisory Division's core services are traditional external audit and internal audit services, with an IT advisory offering. This team gets the opportunity to work on a broad range of clients and industries; and has the opportunity to work with and learn from different Partners, Managers and team members. For our Graduates this means the opportunity to work across all streams and select a specialisation once they have depth of experience. With the opportunity to be based at our client's site, our Graduates will see firsthand what it means to run a business.
Business & Private Client Advisory
Our Business and Private Client Advisory Division works with a range of small, medium and large private businesses and family groups, along with some not-for-profit and foreign owned businesses. Our team offers a wide variety of services to clients who operate in a range of industries including property, education, hospitality & gaming, accommodation, agribusiness and automotive. Our services include accounting & tax compliance services, business & tax advisory, structuring, superannuation, wealth management and transactional services. This variety of clients and work means you will have great opportunities to learn and grow, working with and learning from different Partners, Managers and team members
Corporate Finance
Our Corporate Finance division offer a full suite of capabilities to our clients, including valuations, M&A advisory and transaction services. The team have specialists in all streams and service private and public sector clients within a broad range of industries. Our approach to work is centered on relationships, both internally and with our clients. We offer existing and future clients a unique opportunity to take advantage of our strategic positioning within the Asia Pacific Region.
Tax
Our Tax Division advise public, private and multinational companies to understand the seemingly unrelenting tax pressures they face and how best to deal with them. We help to identify and manage tax risks before they become a problem, maximise opportunities and minimise tax exposure for businesses, take realistic tax positions and ensure compliance with all ATO requirements so that our clients can focus on the bigger picture. Made up of a number of specialist Tax areas, our team work on a broad range of clients, industries and have the opportunity to work with and learn from different Partners, Managers and team members.
Vacationer Program
The SW Accountants & Advisors (SW) Summer Vacation Program is an opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a 6 week paid internship, open to students in their second last year of university.
