Eligibility

The Graduate Program is open to anyone with a tertiary qualification/TAFE equivalent from any discipline. You must be a recent graduate having completed your degree in the last 18 months and you must be an Australian or NZ citizen, or Australian permanent resident

Who are you?

You might be a marketing or communications grad, but equally you might not be. (We’ve had successful grads from law, commerce, architecture and science). What you will be is curious, creative, able to think round corners, sociable, articulate, and be interested in what makes people tick. And have something that makes you a bit different.

You also have to be an Australian or NZ citizen (and have a tertiary qualification, completed in the past 18 months).

How does it work?

  • Apply online (applications close 11 October, 11:45pm)
  • Come to an Information Night in Sydney or Melbourne on 27 Sept to hear more from last year’s grads and agency leaders.
  • Find out if you’re shortlisted
  • If you are shortlisted, attend a free pre-assessment workshop for tips on strategy, idea generation and presentation skills
  • Attend Assessment Day on 15 November where shortlisted candidates will do a group exercise and an individual presentation to a panel of Heads of Talent from major agencies
  • Agencies will approach candidates and arrange further interviews
  • Successful candidates will be advised and will start at the end of January 2018
  • You will then be automatically enrolled into a 6 month training program as part of The Communications Council Graduate Program

Want a career in Advertising or PR?

Are you ready to work in an exciting, innovative, fast-paced environment while receiving valuable hands-on experience? Are you a story teller and specialist who can become a generalist in this fragmented world of marketing communications? Are you focused and ambitious? Are you able to identify opportunities? If this sounds like you, and you’re ready to jump-start your career in marketing communications and work on challenging projects then read on as this program is for you.

We’re looking for curious, interesting and innovative people. People who are interested in contributing to the ever-changing advertising, PR and marcomms world. Not creative people per se (we have AWARD School for budding copywriters and art directors) but people who use their creativity to solve marketing problems. We want those who use both sides of the brain. You might have done law, accounting, architecture, philosophy, psychology or any of the more traditional paths into advertising and PR.

About the Communications Council

We’re not an advertising agency so who are we and what is our role running a graduate program?

It’s as simple as this: we are Australia’s peak industry body representing marketing communications agencies, with a member base comprising more than 120 agencies across a diverse range of disciplines that are at the forefront of commercial creativity. We create a footprint across the increasingly integrated world of creative, digital, healthcare, design, direct marketing, promotion, public relations, creative, production and strategic planning.

Our members take great pride in their work and look to us to attract and engage new talent to help them continue to be commercially successful. They seek and crave creative, innovative, team-oriented individuals who are passionate about the industry and are ready to roll their sleeves up to work shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the most talented professionals in the industry.

How are we any different to any other graduate program?

How many graduates have the opportunity to be mentored by 40 different leaders? This is what stands us apart from other graduate programs. Our member agencies include integrated agencies as well as specialists in healthcare advertising, public relations, digital, experiential and brand activation. Our program provides a broad range of opportunities for a diverse group of candidates.

The Communications Council Graduate Program has a long and proud history of over 30 years with nurturing graduate talent. In 2016 we placed 33 into advertising agencies in Sydney and Melbourne. Some of the participating agencies over the past few years have included
