Changing clothes. Changing conventional wisdom. Change the world.

UNIQLO stems from the words ‘unique’ and ‘clothing’ – simple and clever, just like our clothes. Our philosophy is based on the premise of Life Wear: apparel that comes from the Japanese values of simplicity, quality and longevity. Designed to be of the time and for the time, Life Wear is made with such modern elegance that it becomes the building blocks of each individual’s style. A perfect shirt that is always being made more perfect. The simplest design hides the most thoughtful and modern details. The best in fit and fabric made to be affordable and accessible to all. Life Wear is clothing that is constantly being innovated, bringing more warmth, more lightness, better design, and better comfort to people’s lives.

Our mission at UNIQLO is to deliver LifeWear to people throughout the world, and to grow together with society. Adhering to the concept of ‘MADE FOR ALL’, it is our job to provide truly good clothing to all customers globally, regardless of nationality, gender, age, or religion.

We build global leaders who are capable of independent thinking and decision-making, even in times of rapid change - leaders who will motivate and engage others, take decisive action, and achieve results with their team.

You will start your career as a UNIQLO Management Candidate (UMC) by aiming to become the manager of a store as quickly as possible. From there, you will expand further afield to take on the challenge of running larger stores, or working in corporate or international positions as a global leader.

The UMC Graduate Journey

A Global Leader needs to be able to consider and execute business decisions on their own initiative.

The greatest feature of our UNIQLO Management Candidate Graduate(UMC) Program is that, immediately after joining the company, you will be assigned to the front lines of store management, and will undertake a 12-month intensive training program to become a store manager, which will prepare you to take on many roles as an innovator, a talent developer, a problem solver, and above all, a Business Leader.

As part of this program, you will join a group of passionate peers, learning the UNIQLO business from the bottom up. As a UMC, you will be guided through our innovative learning and development training supporting you in learning the core skills for success in your day to day activities, such as:

  • Monitoring and developing work schedules

  • Assessing effective visual merchandise layouts and comply with merchandising requirements

  • Manage inventory levels and propose solutions that best benefit the company

  • Supervise, motivate and develop a team to ensure retention

  • Successfully deliver UNIQLO’s fundamental principles of customer service

During your program, you will undertake examinations at certain checkpoints to evaluate your capabilities and knowledge to decide if you need more time to hone your skills or if you are ready to be the next in line to manage your own multi-million revenue making store.. All over the world, many UMC’s have leveraged their extensive experience as managers to take on further leadership opportunities locally or globally within our corporate headquarters or continue their journey in operations!
