 The two-year Graduate Program is an amazing opportunity for graduates from a variety of disciplines to develop their skills in a professional setting. It is a rare entry level opportunity to join the Victorian Fisheries Authority and the Victorian Public Service.

The position will utilise your knowledge and expertise to make impactful decisions that ensure the continued sustainability and growth of Victoria’s marine, freshwater and aquaculture fisheries.

The program will involve rotating through the Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) divisions:

Fisheries Management: where you will work within the marine and science, fisheries policy, freshwater breeding and stocking, licencing, and aquaculture teams for Victoria’s recreational and commercial fisheries.

Office of the Chief Executive Office: helping to manage the day-to-day operations of the VFA and shape the future of the organisation.

Better Boating Victoria: managing projects and investments that improve Victoria’s boating infrastructure and facilities.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to travel and work in VFA offices throughout the state and allow you to explore freshwater and marine environments while undertaking scientific research and in doing so, you gain exposure to a diverse and wide range of experiences and roles, empowering you with marketable skills that will enhance your skills and accelerate your personal and professional growth.

At the conclusion of the two-year program, graduates may have the opportunity to continue working for the Victorian Fisheries Authority 

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated analytical skills that can provide innovative solutions to relevant issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to prepare written materials, letters, emails and reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Well-developed organisational skills with a strong ability to work independently and prioritise tasks at hand.

To be considered for this role you must have recently completed or be in you final year of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.

A qualification in marine science, agriculture or natural resources preferred, but all other qualifications will be considered.
