As the Accounting Officer - Works, you will provide accurate and current financial services to the Works and wider Technical Services team as well as undertake Management Plan preparation and quarterly budget reviews. Key responsibilities include:
  • Support the Works Manager in the timely production of the Works Annual Delivery and Operational Plan, and their respective quarterly reviews
  • Administer Council’s Work program and system to ensure that the data is kept up to date and information is accurately provided to the Manager to help ensure Works Programs objectives are achieved within budget and to the relevant deadlines
  • Actively monitor and maintain works program expenditure, allocations and job number, and to assist staff in the monitoring of their projects to assist with works being completed within agreed budgets and recommend strategies to address any budget variations
About you:
  • Diploma in Accounting or equivalent or currently studying for this qualification
  • Extensive experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience or understanding of budgeting and financial management
  • High level communication skills
  • A thorough understanding of Local Government in NSW or capacity to rapidly acquire this knowledge
