We are seeking an energetic, motivated and results orientated individual to join our Development Assessment and Building Certification Team in providing quality building assessment and certification services for our growing City.
Wagga Wagga City is the regional capital of the Riverina region of NSW with an urban population of approximately 60,000 people. The city is located midway (450kms each side) between Sydney and Melbourne and is well connected with excellent rail and road network. Wagga Wagga is an important agricultural, industrial, business, military, and transport hub and the ninth fastest growing inland city in Australia.
Council is currently seeking applications from motivated individuals to join our team in the capacity of either a Building Surveyor or a Cadet Building Surveyor with the opportunity to progress to a Building Surveyor role.
What we will offer you:
13-02-2024- Commencing salary of $85,921.68 gross per annum with the opportunity to progress to $103,106.12 + superannuation (Building Surveyor)
- Commencing salary of $75,299.12 gross per annum with the opportunity to progress to $90,358.84 + superannuation (Building Surveyor)
- Annual Accreditation Allowance - (A1 Accreditation = $6,000; A2 Accreditation = $4,000 and A3 Accreditation = $2,000)

- Conduct assessment of development applications, complying development certificates, construction certificates, building information certificates and applications under s68 of the Local Government Act 1993.
- Conduct inspections of residential, commercial and industrial building/premises for component compliance, safety and building information certificates subject to Accreditation Level.
- Participate in meetings/consultations with relevant stakeholders including owners/builders; architects; engineers; and government agencies including on-site.
- Undertake compliance and enforcement functions in relation to building and development matters that affect the Local Government Area.
- Mentor junior planning staff, providing technical advice and guidance.
- Conducting supervised assessment of development applications.
- Conducting supervised assessment of construction certificates and complying development certificates.
- Undertaking of inspections of approved development for compliance.
- Hold or be eligible to hold a minimum A3 level accreditation under the Building Professional Boards Accreditation Scheme;
- Have a preparedness to undertake required studies in Building Surveying to attain an A2 level accreditation would be advantages to the organisation;
- Substantial experience relevant to the role; and
- A current Class C Drivers Licence and WHS General Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).
- Hold a Current Class C and a General Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).
- You will also need to demonstrate an ability and preparedness to undertake required studies in Building Surveying to attain an A2 level accreditation under the Building Professional Boards Accreditation Scheme.
